What is Melee Diamond?

The GIA defines Melee Diamonds as tiny single or foot flips weighing less than 1/5 克拉 (CT). However, the specific size of the rice drill varies from country to country and from trading market to trading market. The smallest rice drill size can be 0.001 carats (1/1000 of a carat). They are usually cut and ground into tiny round diamonds, which are set around the main stone or in a ring.

Single flapper:

A cut grinding pattern with a circular girth profile, having 17 or 18 facets, depending on whether the diamond has a pointed bottom. Facets include a tabletop, eight crown facets, eight pavilion facets, and (very rarely) a pointed bottom.

Foot Trepper:

A round bright cut with 57 or 58 facets, depending on whether the diamond has a pointed base. Facets include 32 crown facets, 24 pavilion facets, a tabletop, and a pointed base (common).
